Description
This is Jari, a New Forest D-pony (1.47 m) with a preference for showjumping and eventing. We are looking for a new home for him because our daughter has made the transition to horses.
Jari jumps a course up to 1.05m very easily and clear. He thinks along at the jump and does not hesitate, even if the distance isn't right. Over the years he has gained a lot of experience and is no longer bothered by a gate or combination. In showjumping he is a real schoolmaster.
Preferably he runs an eventing competition. In that discipline too, he has already seen many types of obstacles and carries the rider along.
He has also proven himself in dressage. Under LRV (Belgium) he successfully ran L2. With his previous rider he competed in Z dressage in the Netherlands. He knows a lot of exercises, but his preference does not lie with dressage.
For Jari, we are looking for a younger rider who likes to jump/cross. He is suitable for a somewhat insecure rider who lacks some confidence in showjumping. Jari will give that confidence.
Jari is now 20, but still fit. He is still ridden several times a week. Recently, he has often been out on hacks with our daughter. He enjoys that too and remains well-behaved and controllable. He is not easily scared and does not necessarily want to lead. Jari has often been out in the woods without other ponies or horses.
In the paddock he must be kept together with another pony/horse. He does not like being alone. He likes to play boss in the paddock, but does so without kicking. He also remains well-behaved near other ponies/horses. Jari is not a cuddly pony. He does not like being washed.
Jari is well-behaved at the farrier and vet. His vaccinations are up to date. Jari loads calmly onto a small horse lorry or horse trailer. If another pony is travelling along, he does not like being left behind alone inside, but that is easily solved by taking him off briefly and putting him straight back on.
We are looking for a home for Jari where his hay is soaked or where damper wrapped haylage is fed. Jari is sensitive to dust, but with a respiratory supplement and dust-free hay, that is well under control. Jari is used to being turned out at night as well. We are looking for a place for him with plenty of turnout and many hours outdoors.
