Celtic VDL
Description
This three-year-old top talent was selected at the KWPN Stallion Show for the performance test and named a premium stallion. Celtic VDL showed himself to be among the most complete stallions of his year thanks to his athletic model, convincing free jumping performance, and strong lineage.
As an offspring of the genetically interesting Chatinue and the successful Sixtine de Vains (sport name Sarena) under Ben Maher and Pius Schwizer, Celtic VDL unites two meritoriously performing Grand Prix show jumpers in his pedigree. Dam Sarena won, among others, the 5* Grand Prix of Wellington and, prior to her sports career, had already produced the international 1.45m show jumper Byzance de Vains (by Ogano Sitte) for Francois Xavier Boudant. After her sporting career, Sarena returned to breeding and produced, among others, the promising Zangersheide-approved stallion Pardino VDL (by Zirocco Blue VDL), who was selected by the KWPN and already impressed in the stallion competition under Cristel Kalf. Granddam Isoline III produced, in addition to Sarena, the international 1.55m horse Perle de Vains (by Robin II Z) for Jordan Schoch and hails from a strong French performance lineage.
Premium stallion Celtic VDL comes from the first crop of the Grand Prix stallion Chatinue, who himself performed at the highest level under Darragh Kenny and Luis Alejandro Plascencia. Chatinue is a half-brother to the Grand Prix stallion Balou du Reventon, with whom Brian Moggre participated in the WEG in Herning, and the sire Balou du Rouet. Thus, Celtic VDL unites prominent German and French genes in his pedigree.
Palmares
• Our stallion Celtic is a carrier of the WFFS gene. This is Warmblood Fragile Foal Syndrome.
This is a genetic defect that does not affect him personally. The chance that offspring will be born with this is extremely small. This small chance only exists if the mare you wish to inseminate with him is also a carrier. Should you breed a foal that demonstrably dies from the effects of WFFS in its first year of life (by providing a medical report from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Utrecht/Ghent or a comparable institute), VDL Semen Sales BV guarantees you a one-time compensation up to a maximum of € 10,000, regardless of whether you have incurred additional costs and/or damage. The compensation will only be paid to the breeder who purchased and paid for Celtic's semen from VDL Semen Sales BV.
