Chacco Blue out of one of the most successful mares of her generation; that is the recipe for the pedigree of the promising Chicago Blue VDL. This talented stallion is a direct son of the top mare Cella, who belonged to the world's elite under Ben Maher. This makes Chicago Blue VDL’s granddam the legendary Usha van ’t Roosakker – one of the most successful broodmares of recent decades.

Chicago Blue VDL is thus a son of Chacco Blue, who was the number one on the WBFSH Sire Ranking for many years. In addition to his own sports career at the highest level, Chacco Blue produced an almost endless list of 1.60m show jumpers; the best known is undoubtedly the reigning Olympic champion Explosion W of Ben Maher. Other top horses include Miss Blue Mystic Rose (Yuri Mansur), Up Too Jacco Blue (Max Kühner), Chalou (Emanuele Gaudiano), Chaqui Z (Shane Sweetnam), Blue Movie (Rowan Willis) and Aralyn Blue (Harry Charles).

Dam Cella makes Chicago Blue VDL’s pedigree truly unique. She jumped at the highest level under Ben Maher and rose to great heights especially at the European Championships in Herning in 2013. There, Cella won both the team gold medal with the British team and the individual silver medal. Furthermore, the impressive grey mare won the World Cup and the Grand Prix of Wellington, the Global Champions Tour of London and the Nations Cup of Dublin. She also finished second in the prestigious Grand Prix of Hamburg and third in the Grand Prix of Dublin. In addition, Cella is already particularly successful in breeding; she produced, for example, the Grand Prix show jumpers Fabio van ’t Roosakker, Happy Wandor van ’t Roosakker and Handor van ’t Roosakker. Granddam Usha van ’t Roosakker is in turn one of the best broodmares of her generation and was at the foundation of top jumpers such as Equador van ’t Roosakker, Emporio van ’t Roosakker, Babbe van ’t Roosakker, Erco van ’t Roosakker, Electra van ’t Roosakker and many more.

At the Holsteiner stallion licensing, Chicago Blue VDL stood out very positively due to his good balance in canter, overview at the jump and light-footedness. He seems to possess a lot of scope and high quality. Under saddle, Chicago Blue VDL already stands out for his good rideability, attitude and self-carriage.

During the performance test in Elmshorn and Neustadt-Dosse, Chicago Blue stood out very positively due to his good balance in canter, his overview at the jump, his scope and his light-footedness. In his first courses, he also proves to be extremely rideable, with a lot of power, impulsion and exceptional caution over the jump.



Offspring

His first crop of foals immediately catches the eye with very long-legged, attractive and athletic foals. His offspring are modernly built, light in type and correct in model, which makes Chicago Blue also particularly interesting as a breeding stallion.
