Sire Cartani jumped at the international Grand Prix level himself and proved to be a major success in breeding; not surprising since his sire Carthago jumped twice at the Olympic Games and dam Taggi won individual bronze and team gold at the World Equestrian Games in The Hague in 1994. Cartello’s dam B-Estelle is a daughter of the legendary Lord and, in addition to the Olympic VDL Cartello, also produced the world-famous Cardento. This flagship of the VDL Stud won team silver at the Olympic Games, World Equestrian Games, and European Championships under Peter Eriksson and ranks among the very best breeding stallions today with offspring like Grand Slam VDL, Kilkenny, Catch Me Not S, and C-Vier.



Palmares

For years, Cartello stood in the shadow of his world-famous brother Cardento, but in recent years Cartello has developed into one of the very best show jumpers in the world. Under his rider Darragh Kenny, Cartello achieved numerous successes, including victories and top rankings in Nations Cups and Grand Prix classes. One of his highlights was his participation in the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games, where he shone with strong performances for the Irish team, featuring a win in the opening speed class. Cartello recently won the Monterrey Grand Prix and finished 2nd in the renowned Rolex Grand Prix of the Spruce Meadows Masters. Cartello has won more than 1.6 million euros in prize money during his sporting career.
